Heating & Cooling Equipment Maintenance
Why should I maintain my equipment?
How often do you maintain your vehicles? Did you know that your heating and cooling system runs for more hours than your car? The good news is that it doesn't require nearly as much maintenance. Furnace and air conditioner manufacturers, gas and electric utilities, and ENERGY STAR all recommend a professional cleaning and tune-up each year for both your furnace and air conditioner. Having Gunthers Comfort Air service your furnace and air conditioner each year can help your equipment keep you comfortable for years to come. We make sure that your equipment is running safely and efficiently, and we give you tips and guidelines for the regular maintenance that you can do between tune-ups.
Things to look for in a tune-up
A professional tune-up and cleaning should include:
- Safety checks: safe installation and operating conditions, safe emissions
- Operational check: is the equipment running correctly?
- Standard cleaning: condenser coil, condensate drain piping (at evaporator), flame sensor, burners
- Additional inspection items (visual): blower housing (if cleaning needed, typically billed as additional work)
- System measurements: refrigerant pressure and charge, motor amp draw, capacitor readings, electrical wiring inspection & tightening
